Top 10 Dating Tips for Programmers, Techies, and IT Guys

I found this hilarious post on RetiredBachelor that talks gives great tips for us techie guys on dating. Definitely worth the read, if you can’t relate to some of the examples and anecdotes than you’ll be lying to yourself. I love this quote:

“See that girl over there at the bar? Yeah, she doesn’t care about how to jailbreak an iPhone, the cool new applications you have on your iPod, and least of all she doesn’t care about your Macbook workflows”

- RetiredBachelor

Come on now, how many times have you showed off your iPhone like you were the only one to have it on the block. Guilty as charged. If you want to laugh on with the 9 other rules here is the link:

Out of Hiberation…

Well it has been waaay too long since I’ve had any time to consistently write in webpodge, but the time has finally come! After experiments in the wild (name any CMS, seriously I’ve tried my hand at all of them), I’m finally ready to settle down and get back to helping out my fellow web-entrepreneurs in our quest to quitting our day jobs and living off our websites/online business.

So some thoughts before I get started on the “real posts”.

OpenSocial is a bunch of hype. Seriously like a developer (yep, I’m one of them), is just going to ignore Facebook just because I have to change around my API call a bit. Most programmers that are working with widgets can handle a logic change for the 50M+ Facebook users.

OpenSocial is not just a bunch of hype, it’s going to destroy Facebook….well at least internationally it will. As Facebook continues to, fail, at crossing the seas with there social network Google just beat them to the punch. Partnering up with Myspace, Hi5, Friendster, and having their own Orkut is simply brilliant. In one fell swoop they cornered the international market, and as soon as those international users break out their wallets a bit more (last I checked us in the USA spend too much online compared to the rest of the world) Google is going to have be a very much a player in the social network space.

Ahh that felt good to write again. Look forward to starting up again my friends. Feel free to weigh in on your thoughts on OpenSocial in the comments below.

Drupal and Facebook - An Unlikely Pair

Drupal LogoOk, so I’ve taken a break from my favorite CMS, Drupal, to experiment in the world of wordpress, and all I can say is I’m happy to be back. A lot of times it takes some time away with another open source code base to realize how truly great we have it with Drupal. The Drupal community is by far the most technical, helpful, and overall innovative bunch of programmers in the open source biz right now. Not to bash wordpress as I love that code base as well, but it’s going ot be Drupal once again for my new project.

So by now, most people have heard about the vaunted Facebook API and the millions to be made by using it. So I figured I might as well give it the old college try, so in this new edition of Drupal expermentation I will go about mixing and integrating the two. So if your’e interested, stay tuned. If not, no worries.
