Slister - Social Bookmarking Redeux
Slister is a new social bookmarking website that is founded on shopping. Following in del.icio.us’s model you can add a little “post to Slister” token in your browser bookmark bar. Slister is primarily based around shopping and shopping deals instead of overall link bookmarking ala del.icio.us. However if they are looking to compete with Shopping 2.0 incumbent, Crowdstorm, so far it looks like they are getting extremely slow traffic. The two recent posts that I saw, when browsing their homepage, were 3 hours apart from each other. The initial impression that I gathered on Slister is that it’s similar to digg in it’s feel, uses del.icio.us aspects, and goes after Crowdstrom’s market. Yet, it does all these things poorly. Slister is not as easy to use or as current as digg, the bookmarking feature is just like del.icio.us, and Crowdstorm already has a loyal following that is growing.
That said, I pull for every new Web 2.0 startup, eventhough I’m not sure there is a need for another shopping 2.0 type. So I wish them good luck, and I hope Slister proves me wrong.
