Facebook vs. Myspace - Top 5 reasons to switch to Facebook

Facebook LogoSo I’ve recently joined Facebook with the new announcement that it was opened up to the general public. When I graduated a bit ago myspace and friendster were the big things so I wasn’t able to have a Facebook account, and damn was I missing out. Now I know why people love Facebook. Here are my top 5 reasons why Facebook rocks over Myspace:

Top 5 Reasons to switch from Myspace to Facebook:

1. User Profile Page - Ever wonder where Myspace got their terrible web designer? Combined with the flash that brings my computer to stall, the ads that take forever to load, and the impossible bad colors it’s hard to even look at. Facebook changes all that and gives you a much cleaner version of a profile page that lets you do what most social networks are about, making friends and keeping friends. Information that’s easy to view and change.

2. Ads, ads, and more ads - Facebook has one ad on the left hand side or bottom. Very clean very easy very not effecting your user experience. If you need to see how many ads myspace has just go to their homepage, you should have seen just about 20,000 of them.

3. It’s not just a Dating site…yet - Lets just come to grips with what myspace is slowly (perhaps quickly) becoming, the most comprehensive dating site on the planet. Dateline doesn’t do show after show called “Internet Predators” day after day using myspace for no reason. (sidenote: ever wonder what those guys are thinking when they open up their door in their underwear and up comes that guy from Dateline with a camera?). What’s nice about Facebook is you can’t just go perusing everyone’s pictures and they have taken a care to privacy of sorts.

4. Ease of Use - It’s just easier to implement everything. From adding photos to incorporating your OUTSIDE blog, it’s really very easy. I just incorporated my blog webpodge.com and it worked fine.

5. The Wall - This is by one of the coolest features that I have seen on Facebook. It’s very easy and instead of writing “testimonials” on myspace this is more like having a whiteboard that you can write on. It’s a messageboard that doesn’t make it difficult to leave messages for your friends

and here’s my facebook, feel free to invite me as a friend, I got like 2 of them right now. (c’mon give me a break I just joined yesterday)

[…] How it works FiveLimes actually doesn’t really function like your typical social network, meaning it doesn’t feel like it’s all about your profile instead it focuses more on recommending and bookmarking eco-products. It’s kind of like del.icio.us meets facebook meets the green community. Del.icio.us in that you can bookmark products and share them with people, Facebook in that you can make friends and connect to other people, and the green community because well because it focuses on products that are eco-friendly. It works by just bookmarking products that you like and adding them to the FiveLimes database under different categories like Apparel, Cosmetics, Food, etc for people to search through. Essentially a user-generated central repository for all things eco-friendly. […]
