Traineo - 3 Week Review of Web 2.0 Weight Loss Application
When I saw that Traineo.com was coming out with a Web 2.0 Weight Loss application I was like hmmm…, I’m for weight loss and I’m for Web 2.0 so I figured why not. So I decided to give it a go, here is a 3 week review of my experience using Traineo and what improvements I would make to this new Weight Loss 2.0 app.
What’s different about Traineo?
Social Networking - The main difference that Traineo has over other online physical fitness websites is the social networking aspect, you can actually build a community of other weight loss people. Kind of like AA for weight loss.
Oh, but there is a slight problem…
Um….Traineo isn’t anonymous! If I wanted to see that Jane wants to lose 40lbs it’s pretty easy to see that Jane wants to lose 40 lbs, I just go to her profile.
I mean how many people do you really want to know that you’re trying to lose 40 lbs?
I think the social networking motivator feature needs a bit of tweaking. Most people when they are trying to lose weight don’t really like to let everyone know how overweight they are, but I think that Team Traineo will get there. The changes I would make would start with having designated motivators, and case studies of people that have used Traineo. They could display case studies of people that are similar to you with your same weight loss goals and how they lost weight.
Summary
Overall I like Traineo and will continue to use it, if nothing else to see what other innovations they can come up with in this new arena. I’ll let you know if I lose anymore weight, I’m down 6 lbs so something’s working right.
